Early Life
Scott was born in northwest Indiana to Judy and first generation Spanish immigrant Lucian. They moved to Pittsburgh when his father was transferred and then back to northwest Indiana after his parents divorced so his mom could pursue a JD. After completing that he, his mom, and sister moved to Milwaukee for a couple of years and then to Arizona to escape the cold. He has spent the bulk of his life since, in the first graduating class of Mountaine Pointe and then getting concurrent undergraduate degrees in microbiology and mathematics from Arizona State University.
Work and Graduate School
Scott’s first job was researching and modelling neural network function blocks for embedded microcontrollers at Intel in Chandler. After graduating from ASU, he moved to O`ahu where he got a masters degree in microbiology with emphasis on virology and immunology. While pursuing his MS, he worked on underwater robotics in University of Hawai`i’s Autonomous Systems Lab. He then moved back to Arizona to live with his now ex-wife and went on to pursue a PhD in physics back at Arizona State. After graduating, he worked at ASU’s High Performance Computing Initiative for several years but got tired of bureaucracy in the university and left to start a business of his own.
Political Activism
In 2015 Scott got involved canvassing with Bernie Sanders’ primary campaign. Following Bernie’s devastating primary loss, Scott made calls and canvassed for Hillary in a desperate attempt to keep trump from getting elected. In 2018, Scott made a naive and somewhat misguided run for Congress and got involved with the Safer Arizona cannabis legalisation campaign. Since then, he has worked supporting other candidates and ballot initiatives with particular interest in universal healthcare and abortion rights / reproductive freedom.
