Scott is a strong advocate for abortion and reproductive freedom. Abortion is healthcare and the decision to have one should be between a person and their doctor, not politicians nor law enforcement. This is why he strongly supports the Arizona Abortion Access Act and encourages you to too.

Police

The institution of law enforcement in the United States is fundamentally broken and has been from conception and by design. Your friend or spouse or relative may be a 「 good person 」 but they are not a 「 good cop 」 because if they were, they wouldn’t be a cop for long. They might not be the one with their knee on someone’s neck, or even the one standing by doing nothing while the life drains out of that person, but they will almost surely not say or do anything about that / to try to see them face consequences. The 「 thin blue line 」 compels cops to stand with their fellows and against citizens.

Law enforcement thrives on the perception that being a cop is necessary ( we are at a historically safe time ), useful ( they don’t actually prevent crime and they barely ever even solve it after the fact ), and dangerous ( it’s far more dangerous to collect garbage, to work on a farm, or to deliver pizzas, and the number one killer of cops is COVID which has supplanted traffic accidents ).

This is not reformable and needs to be rethought completely. Across jurisdictions less than 5% of what cops do has anything to do with violent crime and the vast majority of things like cleaning up after car crashes or dealing with unhoused people doesn’t need to be done by armed paramilitary soldiers in body armour.

Cannabis

Not only is cannabis legal for recreational use in Arizona. Its usage is nearly uniform across demographics, but if you’re Black or brown or poor, the chances of you getting arrested or convicted for it are doubled. Scott campaigned for legalisation in Arizona and strongly supports legalisation at the federal level.
